Every year, we spend weeks preparing for Christmas… only for it to be over in a flash. The gifts are opened, the cookies eaten, and suddenly the magic is gone. But what if I told you the real celebration is just beginning?

Welcome to a new-old tradition: celebrating all 12 Days of Christmas. Our family discovered the joy of slowing down and savoring every one of those 12 holy days — from December 25th to January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany.

And it all began with a song, a story, and an ornament kit.

A Song and Story for All Christians

“Our Father Gave to Us The 12 Days of Christmas” began as a heartfelt song — not just a catchy carol, but a catechetical teaching tool filled with the rich symbols of our faith:

  • Twelve Teachers Teaching
  • Eleven Faithful Apostles
  • Ten Good Commandments
  • Nine Choirs of Angels...

That’s when the 12 Days of Christmas Ornament Kit was born. After recording the song with our carpool choir and publishing the illustrated book, I knew there needed to be more — something tangible that would help children and families take these faith-filled gifts into their hearts and homes.

Inspired by the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

As a trained catechist in Sofia Cavalletti’s Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, I believe in the power of hands-on faith formation. Children learn by doing — by holding, creating, reflecting.

So together with my friend Nancy, we designed a set of heirloom-quality projects that bring the symbols of the 12 Days to life. We started with the illustrations from the book and turned them into printable images, paired with text from vintage hymnals and beautiful lyric sheets in timeless fonts.

The result? A crafting experience that teaches the faith, sparks joy, and invites families to enter into the fullness of the Christmas season.
