Every December, our homes fill with twinkling lights, cookies, wrapping paper, and carols—but how often do we reach Christmas morning already exhausted, only to feel like it’s all over in a flash?
What if, instead, we rediscovered the real rhythm of Christmas—the sacred twelve days, the Holy Days that begin on December 25 and lead us joyfully to the Feast of the Epiphany?
That’s exactly why I created the DIY Decoupage Ornament Kit—a hands-on way for families to celebrate all 12 days of Christmas with beauty, prayer, and gratitude. Each page in is designed to help you slow down, reflect on God’s gifts, and keep Christ at the heart of your home all the way to January 6. For those who like to DIY and have a good printer, the Ornament Kit is available as a digital download for those who like to craft but prefer not to print there is Amazon.
For centuries, Christians celebrated Christmas not as a single day, but as The Holy Days. The 12 Days of Christmas begin on December 25 and continue through the Epiphany, when the Magi reach Bethlehem.
Each of those days offers a chance to rejoice in one of God’s greatest gifts: faith, hope, charity, grace, peace, mercy, and joy.
The inspiration for this kit comes from the findings of Father Harold Stockert, a beloved priest who taught that the familiar song “The 12 Days of Christmas” held a hidden catechism code—reminding Irish Christians of essential gifts of the faith.
That discovery inspired my own song and book, Our Father Gave to Us the 12 Days of Christmas: A Story for All Christians. Together, they invite families to experience the Christmas story as a daily journey of gratitude and grace.
Each DIY Ornament Kit includes everything you need to transform your family’s Christmas into a creative, prayerful experience:

Each illustration is printed from my original artwork used in the companion book. Every stroke and symbol is rich with meaning: lilies for purity, doves for peace, crowns for Christ’s kingship.
When you hold these images in your hands, you’ll feel that connection between faith and beauty—a bridge that turns art into prayer.
“Our kids can’t wait to open the next ornament each night! It’s become the heart of our Christmas celebration.” — Sarah, Catholic Mom of 4
“I used the kit with our parish’s RCIA group. It opened such a beautiful discussion about God’s gifts of faith.” — Deacon Paul, Catechist
“Every ornament tells a story. Now our Christmas tree feels like a catechism of joy.” — Lisa, Grandmother and Parish Volunteer
✨ Faith and beauty belong together.
You can adapt this kit for your family, classroom, or parish community. Here are three beautiful ways to bring it to life:
Each night from December 25–January 6, gather near the Nativity scene.
This quiet ritual turns Christmas evenings into moments of peace and gratitude.
Host an Advent or Epiphany craft event for your parish women’s group, classroom, or youth ministry. Print the ornaments on cardstock, play the song, and let everyone make one to take home.
It’s the perfect way to connect art, faith, and community—and an easy fundraiser for supporting Bethlehem’s Holy Family Hospital.
Print ornaments on beautiful paper and use them as handmade gift tags for family and friends. Each tag shares a message of faith—the true “gift that keeps on giving.”
Every purchase of the DIY Ornament Kit helps support Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem, located just 1,500 steps from where Christ was born.
This hospital provides life-saving care for mothers and babies in need—offering hope where the Holy Family once found shelter.
When you decorate your tree with these ornaments, you’re not just celebrating Christmas—you’re participating in a mission of love.
Make your celebration even more meaningful by combining the ornament kit with these companion pieces:
The illustrations in this kit were drawn from my own Mary Garden art collection—each symbol prayerfully chosen to reflect one of the gifts God gives us through Christ.
As you cut, glue, and hang each ornament, you’re not just crafting—you’re creating a prayer in color and texture. It’s catechesis through beauty, and beauty through love.
Step 1: Print the pages on white cardstock or parchment paper.
Step 2: Cut out the images using decorative scissors or a paper punch.
Step 3: Brush each image with decoupage glue or Mod Podge, layer onto music paper, and let dry.
Step 4: Punch a small hole and thread with gold cord or ribbon.
Step 5: Hang on your tree, wreath, or banner—and pray together.
💫 Tip: Add one ornament each night as a countdown of gratitude, ending with the Epiphany Star on January 6.
In a world that rushes past the manger, this small family ritual becomes an act of faith. It reminds our children—and ourselves—that Christmas is not about getting through the season, but about entering the mystery.
When you celebrate all twelve days, you’ll discover something beautiful happens: peace begins to settle in your home. The joy lasts longer. Gratitude grows. And the story of Bethlehem comes alive once again.
“When we take time to live the 12 Days, we make room for Christ to dwell among us—in our homes, our hearts, and our world.” — Rebecca Even
Make this the year your family truly celebrates all twelve days of Christmas.
Craft, pray, and reflect together on God’s gifts of faith, hope, and love.
The most important thing on Christmas Day is and always will be Jesus Himself. By celebrating all 12 days with prayer, Scripture, song, and acts of charity, we keep Christ at the center, renew our faith, and join in His mission of love.

The beloved “12 Days of Christmas” comes in two versions — the traditional carol filled with joyful imagery, and Our Father Gave to Us, a faith-filled rewrite that teaches the truths of Christianity from the Trinity to the Beatitudes. Inspired by the legend of hidden catechesis, this new version was created to help families Keep Christ in Christmas all 12 days long through prayer, music, and meaningful traditions.
